What Is the Essentials Health Plan™?

The Essentials Health Plan™ combines a Self-Insured Medical Reimbursement Plan (SIMRP) and a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan
to create what’s called a Wellness and Integrated Medical Plan Expense Reimbursement (WIMPER) Program. This model reduces employers’ payroll tax liability, employees’ taxable wages, and the cost of workers’ compensation insurance.

Who Is Eligible for the Essentials Health Plan™?

The qualifications for the Essentials Health Plan™ are simple whether you’re a small, midsize, or large business.

Minimum Criteria

Minimum of Five W2 Employees (Not Including Owners)

Employees Must Be Full-Time or Receiving an Annual Salary of at Least $26,240

Existing ACA-Approved Qualified Health Plan. Those without a Qualified Health Plan may opt for an EHP™ Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) plan.

Complete Your Employee Census Report

We’ll provide you with an employee census report to complete so that we can assess the demographics of your workforce and put together an accurate and thorough proposal (free-of-charge).

Review Your Tailored Essentials Health Plan™ Proposal

Your proposal will identify the tax savings, benefits, and value of the Essentials Health Plan™ to your business. Once you approve, we’ll work directly with you and your payroll department to ensure hassle-free and compliant administration and maximum employee participation upon launch.

Launch, Enroll, and Begin Saving

What is a WIMPER program?

A Wellness and Integrated Medical Plan Reimbursement (WIMPER) program combines a SIMRP and a wellness program that work synergistically with a Qualified Health Plan. It’s considered an employer-sponsored Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA), offering a substantial tax advantage under the ACA.

Are Essentials Health Plan™ benefits taxable?

No, Essentials Health Plan™ benefits are not taxable since it’s a participatory program and not an activity-based program.

Do participants get to choose their own Essentials Health Plan™ supplemental health options?

Yes, Essentials Health Plan™ participants may apply a portion of their allotment balance to optional ancillary benefits, including dental, vision, accident, hospital indemnity, life insurance, and more.

Are Essentials Health Plan™ benefits available to participants' spouse and depents?

Yes, all Essentials Health Plan™ benefits may extended to participants’ spouses and dependents.

How does the Essentials Health Plan™ affect participants' gross wages?

Essentials Health Plan™ participants will see additional line items on their pay stubs to account for pre-tax deductions and post-tax reimbursements. However, the net pay amount will show no change or up to a $50 increase.

Are Essentials Health Plan™ participants required to answer health-related questions to obtain coverage?

No, participants are not asked health-related questions since the Essentials Health Plan™ leverages exclusively group policies.
